The Restoration in Images |

Galilee The sea of Galilee is fed and drained by the Jordan River. Although above the Dead Sea, its shores are still below sea level. Today, the Sea of Galilee is the major water supply for Israel and after the peace treaty with Jordan, it supplies part of that kingdom's water as well. Today the water level is much lower than in in the days of Christ. In ancient times at the north of the Sea of Galilee there was another sea or lake called the Hula sea, and it can be seen in most of the old maps. This lake was drained in the 1950's to combat malaria. Today a small portion of it was flooded for environmental reasons. The Jordan river valley has been turned into a rich and fertile farm land. We apologize for the paucity of images of the Sea of Galilee and the Jordan River. Several rolls of film were lost in transit.
