Kirtland temple

The Kirtland Temple was the first built by the church.  Although the full blessings of the temple were not given until the Nauvoo Temple was constructed some years later, many revelations were received here, and God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ visited the temple and stood on the breastwork of the pulpit.

Stone for the temple was quarried nearby in what is now the Chapin Forest.
