Nauvoo was a prosperous city that exceed even the size of Chicago during preparations for the exodus to Utah.  Beautiful homes were built here, including homes of red brick made from local clay.  The Saints built another temple which was dedicated shortly before their expulsion from the state.

The Trail of Hope, also known as the street of tears.  The Saints lined up along Parley Street awaiting to ferry across the Mississippi river on their exodus from Nauvoo.
