Joseph Smith Sr. Met Luck Mack at the country store in Tunbridge, Vermont.

He first saw her on the stairwell to the living quarters above the store.  The property is still used as a country store today

The Hutchinson cemetery is located near Tunbridge.  Interred there is John Mudget, the business partner of Stephen Mack.

Landscape shots in and around Tunbridge show the rolling hills and lush greenery.  The rocky Vermont soil was difficult to farm, which motivated in part the families move to New York.

Birthplace of Hyrum Smith

Hyrum Smith was born on February 9, 1800 in what was the town of Tunbridge, Vermont, county of Orange.  Two miles up 110, turn right onto Russel Road. Take one other turn that seems to follow the main road. Ward Hill road turns to the right, several hundred yards up the road on the left is the birthplace of Hyrum Smith: Overgrown remains of a cellar on the edge of the road. A garden is planted just behind. Beware of the poison Ivy spread throughout the site.

There are no markers at the sight.  Only a vegetation covered hole remains where the basement of the home was dug.

Although the site remains unmarked, Hyrum is remembered for his crucial role in the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He was a steadfast companion to his brother, Joseph, who considered him a prophet of equal standing in the restoration.

G. Lester Corwin II, a local attorney and avid historian, is pictured in the bottom left image next to the Hyrum Smith birthplace.
