Peter Whitmer farm.  

The Peter Whitmer farm was the site of the organization of the church on April 6th, 1830.  New York state law requires six people for incorporating a religious society.  The other five selected by the prophet Joseph Smith were Hyrum Smith, Samuel Smith, Oliver Cowdery,  Peter Whitmer Jr.,  and David Whitmer.  There were nearly sixty people in attendance to witness the occasion.  The log home now on the sight is not the original home, but a faithful reproduction constructed from materials dating to the era.
